Workshops for Foodies

NEW: Pesto Workshop:

In this workshop, Green Food Solutions will teach you the nutritional components of pesto, different blending and preserving methods, using the traditional mortar and pestle grinding process. as well as ingredient substitutions. Each attendee will make their own jar of pesto to take home

Dill Pickle Workshop:

Green Food Solutions invites you to join us for a fresh pickling demo. We will discuss the health and environmental benefits of this age old practice of preserving food while you prepare your own fresh dill pickles. Each attendee will get to take home their own jar of pickles.

Salad Dressing Workshop:

In this workshop, Green Food Solutions will teach you the history of salads, salad dressing, and more, as well as two different recipes you can easily create at home. Each attendee will get all the supplies and ingredients needed to create their own salad dressing, as well as enjoy a salad together, with lettuce grown locally by your Green Food Solutions Farmers!

Workshops for Growing Your Own

Succulent Terrarium Workshop:

Learn all about succulents, where they grow, and what they need to survive. You will be guided in both the steps of building the environment of a terrarium, as well as the best care techniques for your succulents to thrive when you take them home!

Grow Your Own Mushrooms:

Join us for a beginner's friendly mushroom growing workshop. While you build your grow kit, you will learn about the fungi life cycle, their roles in nature, and get insights into low maintenance and advanced gourmet mushroom cultivation methods. Each participant gets to take home a handout with everything they learned including how to care for their very own mushroom grow kit.

Hydroponics 101:

Attendees will be engaged with an interactive powerpoint presentation, a farm tour where we discuss what's growing, the plants, and the systems. Followed by a hands-on activity of either Seeding, transplanting and /or Data Collection for the hydroponic farm.

This can also be held in a location with a Farm Amenity, ask us how!

Plant Your Own Herbs:

In this workshop, you will plant seeds for your very own herb garden. Participants will get to choose which herbs they want to grow. Everyone will experience starting a plant from seed as we guide them through the steps of planting their own herbs and how to care for them. Attendees will each get their own mini herb planters to grow on a sunny window sill at home.

Seasonal Workshops

Pumpkin Carving Workshop:

Grab a pumpkin, a stencil, and some carving knives and get ready for the Halloween season with this hands on pumpkin carving activity. All supplies provided, take home your very own Jack-O-Lantern masterpiece, while learning about where pumpkins come from and a little history of how they became a symbol for Halloween and Autumn!

Cranberry Sauce Workshop

Impress your friends and family this holiday season with your very own homemade cranberry sauce. Give it as a gift, or keep it for yourself, participants will be guided through this super simple and easy recipe, with fun ingredients to spice it up!

Workshops for Health Nuts

Harvesting Health:

Local Farms and Food Nourishment: Are you getting the proper nutrition even when you do eat well? Learn the nutritional differences between local and grocery store bought produce. We will explore the health benefits of a variety of plants growing in our local farms and the nutritional benefits of how each crop helps to nourish you.

Tea Blending Workshop:

In this workshop, we will discuss the history of tea, as well as herb and tea drying techniques you can easily do at home. Each attendee will be guided in creating their own unique blends of tea while making three of their own tea bags to enjoy together, and take home.

Age Appropriate Workshops:

Hydroponic Happy Hour

Relaxed event for 21 yrs old + Enjoy fresh signature cocktails prepared with hyper local ingredients grown by your local farmer from a local Farm Amenity®. Experience periodic informal tours of your Farm Amenity® while you mingle with fellow residents, enjoy the fresh taste of an expert made cocktail and learn about how we grow food in unlikely places. Urban Farm Utopia

STEM based program for Children 7-15 years old. Participants will engage with an interactive presentation on food justice, urban farming techniques, and sustainability in different cities. Participants will then create and present their own artistic vision of an Urban Farm Utopia through collage art, promoting both environmental awareness and creativity.
